How to manage eye floaters by enlarging your pupils
What Are Eye Floaters?
Eye floaters are small shapes that some people see floating in their field of vision. They can look like spots, threads, or cobwebs that drift around when you move your eyes. Often most noticeable against bright backgrounds like the sky or a white computer screen, these floaters are usually caused be age-related changes to the vitreous gel in your eyes.
Control Pupil Dilation Outdoors
Eye floaters appear more pronounced in bright light because your pupils constrict (gets smaller). Keeping your pupils slightly dilated can make floaters less noticeable.
Ways to Keep Pupils Dilated:
Sunglasses: Wearing dark sunglasses when outside can help. The tint causes pupils to dilate, and the reduced contrast makes floaters less noticeable.
Photochromic Lenses: These lenses darken in sunlight and clear up indoors. They adapt to changing light conditions which can be beneficial for those with eye floaters.
"Behind the tint of our sunglasses, the pupil dilates. This combined with the reduced contrast that the tint produces, makes eye floaters so much less bothersome."
This simple action will make floaters better for all, when you are in bright conditions however, it may not make them totally vanish for you if you have very dark floaters. You can use this in combination with a range of other tips to make floaters comfortable for your life. I’ll link to my related video on this topic for 3 further tips.
